Choosing the right potholders

How to choose the right potholders?

Potholders are essential for protecting your hands and optimizing your performance in crosstraining and gymnastics. But with so many models available, how do you choose the ones that suit you best? Here are our tips for finding the ideal pair to suit your needs and practice.

The type of coating

Powergrip :

  • Rubber coating: durable and slip-resistant, it offers excellent grip and optimum resistance to wear and tear.
  • Magnesia-free.
  • Bar type: smooth bars.
  • Level: Intermediate and above. What’s in it for you? You need to work on your grip before using a pair of potholders that offer extreme grip on the bar to avoid falls.

Our Powergrip tip: Use them on smooth, clean bars so you’re literally glued to the bar!

Blackgrip :

  • Synthetic leather coating: soft and grippy, ideal for prolonged use with good support.
  • Magnesia-free.
  • Bar type: Residue-free smooth bars.
  • Level: All levels.

Our Blackgrip tip: Use them on smooth, residue-free bars (tapes or chalk), a good compromise between Carbongrip and Powergrip.

Carbongrip (with or without holes)

  • Microfiber coating: soft and comfortable, a good compromise between comfort and grip. Resistant materials.
  • Can be used with or without magnesia.
  • Bar type: All bar types.
  • Level: Suitable for all levels.

Our Carbongrip and Gymgrip tip: Use them on rough bars or speal bars with magnesia to get the best grip! If you’re used to using the “fold” technique, we recommend carbongrip with holes.

Size

Choosing the right size is essential to avoid discomfort or lack of efficiency. Refer to our size guide. Choose Carbongrip with holes, and a slightly larger size if you wish to use the “fold” technique, where the potholder forms an extra layer between the hand and the bar.

With or without holes?

With holes These can be slipped over the fingers for better support and connection to the bar.

Without holes They cover the entire palm and provide a quick, more natural grip on the bar.
